Allen Shawn--Three Poems of Hagiwara Sakutaro

Allen Shawn is best known as the composer of the music for the film, My Dinner With Andre. Allen Shawn is a composer, and also a very fine author of books about composers, a book about Bernstein, and a book about Schoenberg, among others.

Shawn’s settings of Hagiwara Sakutaro are for soprano, guitar, mandolin, flute, oboe, violin, cello. First performed by Cygnus and soprano Elizabeth Farnum at Symphony Space.

There is a lovely Cygnus connection with Sakutaro. Sakutaro played mandolin.
